2 woodland grove, bath
Following unsuccessful applications to re-develop the existing site with a conventional 2 storey design, dza were commissioned for this bespoke house in the claverton conservation area of Bath. Built on a corner plot, it has approximately 1900 square feet of accommodation arranged so as to be low level and allow views of established mature landscape while creating large open plan living spaces filled with light.
The design embodies low energy solutions with air source heat pump, green roof, triple glazing, mechanical whole house ventilation, underfloor heating, solar thermal panels and highly insulated walls, floors and roof. The superstructure is timber frame and was design and constructed in Germany, delivered to site and erected in 7 days.
The design has a double A rating under SAP assessment and a 92% score for CO2 emission efficiency and ultra low energy use per square metre - close to passivhaus standards.
